Happy Holidays!

Just because you work in a cube doesn’t mean you can’t get into the holiday spirit! This is one creative way to show your office mates you’re no scrooge… but why let all that wrapping paper be purely symbolic? As long as you’re wrapping up an office chair, make it a new one and give yourself the gift of better posture, improved productivity, and a cure for back aches and neck pain!

Have a good holiday, and I’ll see you in 2010!

Gravity Chair

Introducing the Gravity Chair from Varier… Or more like Miracle Chair if you ask me. The weird and wonderful design of this chair means you can lie back and relax — with no support behind you! Is it witchcraft? No, it’s just the mind-boggling, impeccable Scandinavian design that brought you the Variable Balans and the Thatsit.

This amazing chair is more than just a recliner, though. It can be used in four different positions, including one upright for table or desk work. It’s also made from sustainable woods, and if you order now from SeatingZone, you can get it for $1,000 off the list price!

What a perfect, decadent Christmas present.

Konichiwa!

Hello from Kyoto, blogosphere!

When I told the folks over at seatingzone.com that I’d be spending a couple of weeks in Japan, they were very enthusiastic. Maybe you can blog about some cool Japanese chairs! they suggested. Cool idea, except that traditional Japanese culture isn’t very chair-centric — mostly they sit on cushions on the floor. Still, just because you’re sitting cross-legged on a tatami mat doesn’t mean you don’t want a little ergonomic support!

It looks like even traditional floor sitters sometimes enjoy the benefits of a mesh back support and a cushioned arm rest. More power to them!

Best of the Best

Remember this guy? Well, so does everyone else! The ErgoHuman Mesh Chair by Eurotech continues to be seatingzone’s all time top-seller. People can’t get enough of this chair!

And with very good reason. The mesh seat on the ErgoHuman is taut and springy, and is actually firmer than a regular foam cushion, plus the segmented back offers surprisingly strong lumbar support.

Mesh is also great for its breathability — if you’ve ever found yourself sticking to leather or vinyl on a warm day, you’ll understand what a nice feature this can be.

Normally, office chairs of this level of style, comfort, and ergonomics sell for over $1000, but the ErgoHuman is available for the much more reasonably price of $607.  No wonder they keep selling so well!

That’s It!

Check this out! From the people who brought you the very popular Balans kneeling chair comes a new design to keep you limber and pain-free at work or home. The Varier Thatsit takes their brilliantly minimalist rocking-kneeling-chair design and gives it a few new tweaks: fully adjustable knee pads and a comfy, supportive back rest!

But really, it’s so much more than that. The Thatsit takes one of the best office seating solutions around, then adds extra comfort features to make it perfect for reading and relaxing as well as working! The adjustable leg supports allow it to adapt perfectly to any user, regardless of height, and the adjustable-height back rest works to support your arms and spine, and to maintain good posture to prevent future pain and weariness. Or… turn the whole thing around to sit on it backwards! It’s just as comfortable, and studies show that changing your position and posture during the day is the key to a healthy, pain-free back and legs.

Plus the rocking wooden runners work to distribute your body-weight evenly and engage your sense of balance — which helps you to breath freely and concentrate for longer periods of time.

Varier is of course also known for its environmentally-friendly materials and methods, so this is one gift (for yourself or others) that you can really feel good about.

Supportive Stool

Keeping with our theme, here’s another cool and unusual stool design! This heavy-duty stool from Seating Inc. is a little weird looking, but it’s a really fantastic design for anyone who sits on a stool for long periods of time. It features a cushioned, rotating bar that can be manipulated to serve any number of comfortable and supportive positions — use it as an armrest, back rest, or “belly bar”!

This innovative stool is also a great choice for people with back or shoulder problems, or anyone who’d like a bit more support than your average medical stool.

More perks: rated up to 275lbs, with a lifetime warranty, and an extensive list of colors and fabrics! It can also be purchased as a low, medium, or full-height stool.

Leggy Stools

Haha, I’m still on my stool kick, so to speak! These bar stools are definitely eye-catching, though I’m not sure what message they send. I guess those are some good-humored nuns, though.

Stay tuned for more cool stools from Seating Zone.

Butterfly Stool

Here’s another cool stool that will definitely stand out from the crowd. The ModZ 1131 is a great choice to set a retro-future mood at any bar, restaurant, or elevated seating area.

The butterfly-wing seat is done in smooth, comfortable, and endlessly durable leatherette, and the bright chrome gives the piece a classic look. One touch pneumatic height adjustment allows you to choose from counter height or bar height at the touch of a lever.

Also available in black or white, but who could resist that brilliant orange? Not me, that’s for sure. This model is a popular item and is hard to keep in stock, so please be sure to leave plenty of time for your order.

Strappy Stool

Seating Zone specializes in office, desk, and computer chairs, but you should know that’s not all we do!  We also have an array of really fun bar stools, perfect for outfitting a kitchen, home bar, restaurant, or any office space that requires higher than normal seating (not to mention a dose of flair!).

Today I want to spotlight the ModZ 0703, an elegant example featuring classic design and clean lines.  There’s nothing fussy, complicated, or show-y about this bar stool, but the woven leatherette strap back adds just a touch of interest — taking a utilitarian item and raising it to the level of design.

The chrome steel tube frame is also just slightly out of the ordinary here…  Look closely, and you’ll see the attention to detail: slim lines, the retro-chic sparkle of chrome, and the unusual detail of the arc cross bar.

All in all, this is one stool that’s definitely a cut above average.  Also available in white.
