Mesh

Ergohuman Mesh

All right, people — it’s time for chair of the day! Please, hold your applause.

My boss just invited me to sit in one of our Ergohuman Mesh chairs, and I have to say, it wasn’t what I was expecting. When people hear mesh, a lot of times they think the chair is going to be about as supportive as a hammock, but it turns out that’s not the case at all. The mesh seat is taut and springy, and is actually firmer than a regular foam cushion, plus the segmented back offers surprisingly strong lumbar support.

Mesh is also great for its breathability — if you’ve ever found yourself sticking to leather or vinyl on a warm day,  you’ll understand what a nice feature this can be.

The original and probably best-known mesh chair is the Herman Miller Aeron, developed in 1994, which has practically become an icon in office furniture. The Aeron is great if you’re looking for a corporate status symbol… but if you want the same style and comfort for hundreds of dollars less, you really can’t beat the Ergohuman. This buzzle review seems to come to the same conclusion.
