Back Care Products

We all know that ergonomic posture is important for a healthy back and a productive mind. In these tough economic times, however, not everyone can afford a fancy ergonomic chair with the extra padding in all the right places. What’s a frugally minded office worker to do?

Well, here’s a secret: you can get a lot of the same benefits at a fraction of the price of a full ergonomic chair! Sitcorrect carries a full line of back cushions, seat pads, and other ergonomic accessories to transform your lame, old, worn-out office chair into the comfy, fully supportive seat your spine dreams of.

Check out more back care products.

Blue Jean Girl

Still in a spring mood, I thought I’d share this “Casual Friday” version of one of our most popular chairs. The MDZ-1025 sells best in sleek black leatherette, but it’s also available a host of other kicky options. This one is blue denim, and I think it gives this chair an altogether different feel — much more fun and whimsical. Also check out versions in fire engine red and spring green, as welll as black, white, and brick.

Surf Chair

This cool-but-strange-design out of Denmark is a perfect example of how great design doesn’t necessarily mean great ergonomics. I love the concept behind this chair — it almost reminds me of a snail carrying his house (or, in this case, computer) on his back. But as lovely as that great circular frame is, I can’t imagine would be comfortable for more than fifteen minutes.

Sitting Pretty

Who says ergonomic chairs have to be ugly?  Well, a lot of people, actually — and there’s a reason for that.  When it comes to ergonomics, most designers naturally favor comfort and support over style.  But it doesn’t have to be that way!  Just because you’ve got some lower back pain doesn’t mean you can’t have a visually striking piece of furniture.

This inertia task chair by Now Seating features a high density foam seat and a state-of-the-art synchro-tilt mechanism, plus it’s also available in a high back version.  Best of all, it doesn’t look like some weird torture device, and it’s available in an astounding array of vibrant colors.

A Chair with a Trunk?

elephant Feeling a bit whimsical today, so I thought I’d put up this adorable blue elephant chair. This one I spotted at a design exhibit at Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris — it was a display of designer chairs from the middle ages up to now. This cute little fella came from the sixties, if I remember right — feel free to correct me if you know better. Unfortunately I didn’t save the info!

Blue Chair

Busy Monday, and I’m looking for something calm and soothing to get me started on the week. Check out this video for the Morcheeba song, Blue Chair.

And while you’re listening, think about curling up in a big, squishy blue chair and napping until Tuesday.

Mushroom Chair

I found myself at the Museum of Modern Art in Manhattan a couple of weeks ago, and thought I’d wander through the design section while was there. The design section is, of course, mostly chairs — there’s something about chairs that really seems to inspire designers to stretch themselves and produce their most innovative work. Say what you will about cars and MP3 players, the chair is the perfect canvas for design creativity.

HPIM3071

This was one of my favorites. Designed by Pierre Paulin in 1963 and manufactured by Artifort in the Netherlands, it’s called the Mushroom Chair — I love its psychedelic, organically-inspired shape. Too bad the museum doesn’t let you try them out!

Bungee Chairs

Seatability Elite
Can an ugly office chair bring about major depression? Probably not, but a snappy design in a bright color can definitely perk you up on an otherwise dreary day on the cube farm. I know whenever I see an ordinary chair upholstered in beige or gray or some drab, nausea-inducing pattern, I just want to turn around and head back to bed. But imagine having something like this to greet you in the morning.

Now that’s a whole different story! These bungee cord chairs are the new hotness in office seating these days… The elastic bands conform to your body, providing ergonomic support beyond what you get with ordinary cushioning, and they come in cheerful colors like this bright cobalt blue. Plus it just sounds cool — you probably won’t have to jump off any tall buildings soon, but if you did, this chair could help!

Check out the “Escape” here, or maybe the “Elite” — that one’s also available in red, teal green, and brown! And you can see a few similar styles here.
