HON office furniture: Extreme Makeover!

SeatingZone is an authorized HON dealer, and we’re very proud of that fact! What’s not to be proud of when they’re doing great deeds? In additional to making stylish and sturdy office furniture, the HON company recently teamed up with ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ to rebuild Lighthouse Christian School in Nashville, TN.

According to the official website, HON installed classrooms and several offices worth of furniture to help the school recover from the damage sustained during the May flooding. They also provided furnishings for the VIP tent, making it quite the attractive and comfy place to hang out.

Shelley DeSilva, VP of marketing, stated: “‘Extreme Makeover’ is a rare breed reality show that celebrates the indomitable American spirit and illustrates how important collaboration and cooperation are among individuals… These are The HON Company’s core values, as well, so we feel especially privileged to be participating in this project.” (source)

The HON episode of ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ will be airing on ABC sometime this fall. In the meantime, if you find yourself in need of a killer office chair in a dazzling array of color choices (even the mesh!), why not check out one of HON’s most recent bestsellers, the Nucleus?

The Alphabet of Seating: B

B is for…Beach Chair

Betty, can you take my calls? A seagull just stole my brown bag, so I’ll be at the clam shack down the boardwalk.

By the way, wouldn’t mesh be a bit more breathable at the beach? Give SeatingZone a ring and let them know what we’ll need. I think there’s sand in my coffee…

P.S. B is also for Blog, so if there any topics you’d like to see covered in this alphabet, be sure to let us know in comments!

all seating, all the time.

Here at SeatingZone.com, we receive many requests for quotes and general questions from architectural firms, interior design firms, and facilities managers grappling with which of our higher-end, design-inclined seating options will best fit their projects.  More often than not, we sing the (very high) praises of All Seating and the Inertia line by Now Seating.

(Now Seating 79040 Upholstered Mid Back Task Chair)

Browse the lines, and you’ll notice the sculptural angles, punchy fabric/leather/mesh colors, and ergonomic features that wonderfully complement chic hotel suites, sharp conference rooms, and the comfort of those who inhabit such spaces.  We especially like the All Seating Fluid Task Chair (below) for its robust construction and wide array of ergonomic features.  With 100+ fabrics and 4 vibrant mesh back colors, mixing and matching to acheive  certain moods and tones will be a cinch.

Konichiwa!

Hello from Kyoto, blogosphere!

When I told the folks over at seatingzone.com that I’d be spending a couple of weeks in Japan, they were very enthusiastic. Maybe you can blog about some cool Japanese chairs! they suggested. Cool idea, except that traditional Japanese culture isn’t very chair-centric — mostly they sit on cushions on the floor. Still, just because you’re sitting cross-legged on a tatami mat doesn’t mean you don’t want a little ergonomic support!

It looks like even traditional floor sitters sometimes enjoy the benefits of a mesh back support and a cushioned arm rest. More power to them!

Best of the Best

Remember this guy? Well, so does everyone else! The ErgoHuman Mesh Chair by Eurotech continues to be seatingzone’s all time top-seller. People can’t get enough of this chair!

And with very good reason. The mesh seat on the ErgoHuman is taut and springy, and is actually firmer than a regular foam cushion, plus the segmented back offers surprisingly strong lumbar support.

Mesh is also great for its breathability — if you’ve ever found yourself sticking to leather or vinyl on a warm day, you’ll understand what a nice feature this can be.

Normally, office chairs of this level of style, comfort, and ergonomics sell for over $1000, but the ErgoHuman is available for the much more reasonably price of $607.  No wonder they keep selling so well!

Sideways Stacker

Now here’s an ingenious idea! We’ve all heard of stacking chairs, but what’s the use of having tottering towers of chairs reaching up to the ceiling? Sure it saves space, but woe betide the person who tries to remove one item from that precarious stack.

These sleek, modern mesh chairs by Tom Fereday, however are specially designed to stack sideways instead of up to the sky. Working on the principle of a shopping cart, these chairs can be filed away to save space when not in use, but any passer-by can grab one when the need presents itself (without risking life and limb!)

It strikes me as a great idea for museums, music venues or any place that needs flexible seating options.

High Chair

Just because you work at a bar, counter, or drafting table doesn’t mean you have to perch on the edge of some uncomfortable stool. This Inertia Bar Stool from Now seating is simply a taller version of our ever-popular Inertia Side Chair. It’s sturdy and strong, comes in a huge range of contrasting colors and fabrics, and the web-back is especially designed to provide gentle lumbar support that won’t give out. When was the last time you got that on a bar stool?

The NOW-78056 is available with or without arms, with a black, silver or gunmetal gray frame.
